Our school has partnered with the Adopt-A-Library Program and local RCMP and we are taking part in a reading challenge. The WOW Reading Challenge was created to encourage children to read regularly by introducing a friendly competition between schools around the world. The overall goal is to shine a spotlight on reading.
The challenge starts this week and ends in April 2011. Staff and students will keep a log of all books they read at home and at school. Each class will report totals to Mrs. Schmidt each week. These totals are entered online and we will be able to track our success online through the Adopt-A-Library website.
For students reading longer books, it is best to log the number of pages read as 100 pages = 1 book read. Visit http://www.fightingcrime.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=51&Itemid=64 for more information.
